Proles refer to the lowest class (85% of the population). Today they are labelled “chavs”. Their function is simple: breed cheap labour. They do not understand this. Fed with films and football, beer and lottery tickets, etc. are unable or unwilling to organise resistance. The Thought Police moves among them, spreading false rumours and eliminating any individuals deemed capable of causing trouble.
